CASE PROFILE FOR AN ORPHANED CHILD
CHILD'S NAME: CAROLINE WANJIRA
SERIAL NUMBER:
SEX: FEMALE
AGE: 8 YEARS
CLASS:
SCHOOL:
BRIEF CASE HISTORY
Caroline is an only child of a single mother who died of HIV related illnesses. After the death of her mother, Caroline was left under the care of her grandmother, who was also HIV positive and lived in a small slum in Ngong. Caroline's grandmothere was also responsible for other children. Unfortunately the grandmother also passed away in the year 2003, leaving her children and grandchildren under care of her daughter Agnes. In addition to those responsibilities, Agnes became a mother at the tender age of 12 years old when she bore her first born son.
In order to manage the extended family, Agnes went into prostitution and brewing of local brew to get money to feed the family. After six years, Agnes had her second son and it was during her antenatal clinic visit that she learned she was HIV positive. She still lives with the children in a slum in Ngong but the environment is very risky for Caroline since the same house they live in is used as alcohol selling point.
Caroline needs foster home where she can assess care and protection.
